I’ve been active and played sports for my entire life.  I was introduced to strength and performance training at a young age and was instantly hooked.  I have always looked for ways to perform better and get any edge I could over my competition.  Long hours on the field, court and weight room allowed me to compete at the collegiate level in both basketball and baseball.  During high school and college my access was limited in terms of sound training methods so I often trained myself and learned through education and simple trial and error.
I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science in 2001 and immediately looked to bring my passion for fitness and performance to as many people as I could.  After stops at Gold’s Gym and 24 Hour Fitness over four years I was able to help hundreds of people reach their weight loss, athletic performance and fitness goals.  I’ve worked with people from all walks of life from college and professional level athletes who are trying to get an edge on their competition to the elderly who are simply looking to make everyday functioning easier and everything in between.
My drive to improve my clients is only matched by my drive to compete as I continue to compete as a competitive Olympic Lifter and CrossFit athlete.  I’ve taken 1st, 2nd and 3rd against top competition as a competitive lifter along with a 2nd place Sectional & 21st place Regional finish in the 2010 CrossFit Games, 15th place in 2011 & 18th in 2012 & 27th Place in 2013 in the North Central Region.

Shortly after completing my tour in the Air Force, I was introduced to CrossFit by a friend. In December of 2007 I chose to adopt CrossFit as my fitness regimen, and in August 2008 I went to a CrossFit Level 1 certification seminar in Virginia Beach, VA. After attending the Level 1 seminar I became a member of CrossFit Omaha and was an active member for three years. In June 2011, the opportunity to become a trainer presented itself after meeting with CrossFit Terminal Velocity's owner. I became a trainer at Terminal Velocity, and coached there for six months, and for four of those months I was solely responsible for the programming. I feel extremely privileged to have been able to learn and grow at CrossFit Omaha, and at Terminal Velocity. I will continue to sharpen my skills, and build on the foundations created at CFO and CFTV, because I don’t feel anyone is ever finished learning.
I am a CrossFit Level 1 trainer, having gone back to take the ANSI certified Level 1 test in August 2011 (there was no test when I went through the cert the first time), but sometime in the future I will be going to more certifications, and ultimately become a CrossFit Level 2 trainer. I will also be seeking some additional certifications outside of CrossFit, to gain a wider view of training, and maybe learn a thing or two. :-) I have a tenacious appetite for information, and I want to be able to give the best information possible to my clients, and advance their fitness as well as my own.
I was a smoker for twelve years. I was overweight, and the only shape I was in... was round. I have made all of my gains the hard way, so if you're thinking it can't be done, that you can't get into shape... come find me at CrossFit Hydro or give me a call; we'll talk about how awesome you can be.
